On Thursday 17th November we had an open day at the refuge. It was great to have representatives from a whole lot of agencies as well as families of our staff and volunteers come together to hear about the program and see some of the renovations we’ve been doing.
This year we’ve been putting in a lot of effort around the refuge to make simple renovations that just lift the environment and building. After 13 years parts of the building are getting a bit tired and in need of work. But its amazing what some bright colour paint and a picture here and there can do to make the environment more welcoming for the young people we care for. Although we’re aware of not wanting the young people to get to attached and comfortable here as they can only stay for around 6 weeks, its nice for it to be a pleasant and calming atmosphere for them.
